Raising educational attainment is the top priority for the City Council. Bristol schools and the LA have achieved much but there is still more to do. If you have successful experience in schools and/or in a local authority we would like to hear from you. Above all you will have the energy, drive and commitment to make a real difference to the outcomes for children in Bristol.

You will join an experienced team of Behaviour and Improvement staff and work with all schools in making a key contribution to the challenge of raising attainment in the city.

Your work will include:

• Coordinating the implementation of the Local Authority attendance strategy
• Providing high quality effective support for schools in order to improve behaviour and reduce exclusions
• Contributing to the development of effective LA policies for improving inclusion, behaviour, SEN and attendance, prioritising students/groups at risk of under-achievement
• Monitoring Disability/Equalities practice to support inclusion in all schools and settings

This post is part of the newly formed Portfolio Management Office within the Business Change and ICT Service. Our combined role as a service is to deliver high quality support to all of the council’s directorates in delivering successful business and IT enabled change, to achieve business outcomes.

This is an exciting time to join us as the Council delivers its ambitious change portfolio. You’ll be part of the team directly involved in supporting all programmes and projects to ensure we are successful in achieving our shared goals for the organisation.

The council will be making major changes to the way it operates and delivers many of its services over the next three years. This is being delivered through a number of change programmes and projects, some of which are specific to directorates and others which impact across all of our business functions.

The programmes and projects are being planned and governed as an integrated change portfolio. This ensures we have one plan for change, enabling dependencies, resources and risks to be managed effectively and ensuring key governance groups such as the Strategic Options Delivery Board and the Portfolio Management Group are supported in making key decisions.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to take up the role of Portfolio Planner, reporting to the Service Manager of the Portfolio Management Office. This role will be pivotal to ensuring our change portfolio is effectively planned and managed, optimising the use of resources across the portfolio to drive efficiency in delivery and identifying and managing links and interdependencies across all the change initiatives.

The successful candidate could come from a range of business backgrounds, but key attributes will be strong planning skills, a keen attention to detail and an ability to build and maintain effective working relationships.

Care Direct is the first point of contact for Health and Social Care in Bristol. Answering telephones and dealing with faxes and e-mails from the public, health and other professionals our advisors provide information and advice and undertake initial telephone assessments of people in need. Our advisors also form an important part of our care management process updating care plans and setting up small packages of care when appropriate.

You will need to be an enthusiastic, dedicated person with an interest in health and social care. You will have good telephone skills and enjoy talking to people. Communication is key in this post. Whilst not essential, experience in a health and social care setting either in a paid or voluntary setting would also be an advantage.

Bristol Children and Young People’s Services is looking for a Local Authority Designated Officer (Allegations Manager). The post holder will require a social work qualification and have experience of working with multi-agency colleagues in child protection and safeguarding, as well as extensive knowledge of the relevant legislation and guidance.

You will have responsibility for managing and overseeing investigations of allegations against people who work with children and young people. The role will involve promoting good communication and working relationships with all local agencies, including providing training, advice and direction on relevant policy and procedures.

The Bristol 600 Day Centre provides day services for older people, some with high care needs and people with dementia. The post requires you under the general supervision of the Day Services Manager to assist in the management of day services. This will include staff management, the planning, development, implementation, management and monitoring of services, programmes and assessments of older people.

Previous experience in a caring role, working with people with dementia and medication training are essential.
