Stapleton Road to host "biggest street fair"
Local people and businesses around Stapleton Road, Easton will join together on Saturday, 3 October, to celebrate all that’s good about their neighbourhood. The fair is free and is one of Bristol’s biggest street parties.
The day is open to all and promises a host of fun, including: two stages with live music and performances; stalls; poetry; street gardening; a variety of foods; sports and games; art and music workshops, plus wacky bikes and a cycle-powered sound system.
Visitors can enjoy music from RSVP, El Patio Primo, Katapulto, The Great Eskape and Balance Greenhouse. Over on The Performance Stage, Cirque Bijou will join hosts from the Desperate Men theatre company along with poets, Arabic dance and folk bands.
To prepare for the street fair, locals will be busy carrying out a community clean up. On the day itself, Stapleton Road will be closed to traffic from Clifton Place to Trinity Road, from 10am to 8pm.
The 2009 Stapleton Road Street Fair is organised by Love Easton and Bristol City Council Neighbourhood Arts Team and supported by Bristol City Council’s Community Festival Fund and Neighbourhood Arts. Love Easton is a partnership of residents, community groups and organisations promoting local pride in Easton and Lawrence Hill. This is the group’s fourth street fair since 2004.
